Stem Cells: Science and Ethics
Having been put forward by one of the authors, we were delighted to be awarded the contract by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council to produce this exciting educational publication. For this third edition of the publication we created a brand new visually interesting and attractive style to appeal to the target audience of secondary school students to help introduce what is by it’s very nature very complex subject matter to students. “I am delighted with the work Pax have done on our publication. They have been excellent to communicate with, accommodating to shifts in the project timeline and offered helpful advice on producing the resource to the highest quality. Along with all that, the design work is brilliant, everyone who picks up the resource says how great it looks.” Dr Jan Barfoot, Project co-ordinator and author of Stem Cells: Science and Ethics, The University of Edinburgh

First Line Managers’ Reference Handbook
We have worked with this large-scale vegetable producer for a number of years and were delighted to be asked to create their new identity. As one of Scotland’s foremost suppliers of swede and sprouts to the multiples, the new identity, which reflects Drysdales’ heritage, reliability and reputation for quality and service, has been applied to the usual stationery items, other marketing collateral and the soon to be launched website.Having worked very closely with SGN to produce visual identities for the company’s ‘Vision’ and ‘Values’ and then subsequently on a Vision, Values and Objectives employee handbook (see news entry October 2009), we recently extended the company’s range of communications with a First Line Managers’ Reference Handbook. Using a style and visual cues created for the previous publication, and with an emphasis on simplicity, this new title is an invaluable reference guide for SGN managers to help them align themselves with SGN’s Vision and Values and help them deal with common issues that can arise in their working lives.

Enjoying further growth…

Your Call - Lothian Centre for Inclusive Living...
...came calling again!
When Your Call; telephone counselling for disabled people by disabled people, was launched in 2007, we produced an identity and a range of marketing communications to help promote the new service.
Since then, the initiative, one of a number run by the Lothian Centre for Inclusive Living, has gone from strength to strength, and this month we were asked to produce new materials to enhance their offering and help raise awareness yet further.
“We have used Pax twice now for designing and producing publicity material”, says Ian Fuller, Counselling Co-ordinator at Your Call, “The first time, they came up with an eye-catching logo which also reflects the nature of the telephone counselling service. Each time we have worked with them, they have been creative, focussed, efficient and responsive to our needs. All you could want in a design company.”

Jet Logic - Private Aviation
"Chocks Away!" - Website and Marketing communications
We were delighted to be approached by the team at jetlogic with the brief to create an identity for their exciting new private aviation company. We looked closely at the unique nature of their proposition; encompassing as it does a more straightforward, user-friendly and service-led offering than currently exists in the market, and came up with a range of designs for them to start building a business behind.
“It was a very rewarding experience for us”, says Leigh Wilson, Managing Director, “We’d all been down this road before in other businesses and with other agencies but we were really thrilled by the imagination and diversity that Pax Studio delivered from quite a narrow brief.”
From the chosen design, the branding has been rolled out across a range of marketing and communication materials including the website. www.jet-logic.com The company continues to go from strength to strength and, we’re sure, should you be looking to fly privately, would welcome an approach.
Loch Lomond Golf Club - The Walled Garden Spa
Promoting a little slice of heaven!
Having been fortunate enough to enjoy the sheer luxury and indulgence of The Walled Garden Spa Retreat at the prestigious Loch Lomond Golf Club, it became clear that the existing marketing materials didn’t reflect the quality of the offering. So we took a fresh look at what was being produced and, utilising new photography, typography and some subtle design, alongside the existing branding, we produced a new leaflet and advertising to promote what has been described by one club member as “Half an hour from Glasgow and half an inch from Heaven”.
The leaflet, which was specifically produced and direct-mailed to promote a special offer, was extremely well received by the client and the phone has, apparently, been “ringing red hot” ever since.
By the way, this special introductory offer is available if you book by the end of February 2010 so if you fancy pampering yourself or treating a loved one then for more information visit: www.lochlomond.com or telephone 01436 655 315 or email: spa@lochlomond.com
Edinburgh New Town Cookery School
Great Taste!
Pax Studio have recently created a brand new identity for an exciting new venture on Edinburgh's Queen Street.
Fiona Burrell, former head teacher at Leith's School in London, has transformed a Georgian five storey former insurance office into a state-of-the-art cookery school.
With a comprehensive range of courses in both food and wine, Edinburgh New Town Cookery School caters for all levels of cook, as well as those who simply want to learn more about food and wine.
Pax Studio were delighted to be asked to create the brand identity for the School and have subsequently produced all other supporting materials including external signage and designs for the website (www.entcs.co.uk). We wish them every success for the future.
Scotia Gas Networks
A vision for the future
Following an approach by Scotia Gas Networks to help develop visual identities for the company's 'Vision' and 'Values', Pax Studio have spent the last 18 months working closely with SGN to deliver the relevant messages to their target audience and reinforce those messages across a range of media.
Starting with the original visual representations of the company's defined ambitions, these have since been applied to signage, banners, 'credit cards', screensavers and powerpoint presentations, and further developed as a manager's toolkit.
"We came to Pax Studio with an ambition to convey a series of quite complex messages to what is, by its very nature, a diverse workforce", said Kirsty Richardson, Change Manager at SGN. “Pax Studio has helped us realise that ambition by consistently producing recognisable, visually arresting communications materials that really deliver.”
SKY's new Talent Hub
'Believe in better'
For the opening of BSKYB's brand new Talent Hub in Livingston, Pax Studio were selected to produce a series of inspiring customer feedback quotes which were visualised and installed on the Hub's entrance hall walls to help motivate staff.
As part of the company's desire to 'keep things real' and 'believe in better' for both customers and staff, SKY use imagery of and quotations from genuine customers to help inspire and motivate staff. This is only a small part of the company's commitment to its staff: they also operate a series of acknowledgement and recognition schemes culminating in an annual award ceremony. Watch this space for further developments.
